Red River Communications Scholarship Program
At Red River Communications, we believe in the power of education and the importance of supporting our youth as they strive for success. That’s why we’re proud to offer $1,000 scholarships to 12 local students to allow them to pursue their dreams and build a brighter future.
Scholarships are available to graduating high school seniors whose families are members or customers of Red River Communications. Whether heading to a university, community college, or technical/trade school, we want to help you take the next step in your educational journey.

Scholarships Available:
General Membership Scholarship ($1,000)– EIGHT $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to students within our service territory of the cooperative. The parent/legal guardian of the applicant must be a member of the Red River Rural Telephone Association (DBA Red River Communications).
General Customer Scholarship ($1,000)– ONE $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student within our service territory.
Vocational Scholarship ($1,000)– ONE $1,000 scholarship award to provide opportunities to a student pursuing an associate degree, credit-bearing certificate, or an industry-recognized credential at a vocational-technical school, trade school, two-year community college or state college.
Technical Scholarship ($1,000)– ONE $1,000 scholarship award to support a student interested in the fields of telecommunications and technology who have a strong desire to attain an education and need financial assistance.
Agricultural Scholarship ($1,000)– ONE $1,000 scholarship award for a student who plans to study for a career in some way connected to the agricultural industry.

FRS (Foundation for Rural Service) Scholarship program provides opportunities for students to attend college or vocational school.
The foundation annually awards scholarships to an exceptional group of rural students for their first year of college or vocational school. FRS has awarded over $1 million in scholarships since its inception, empowering rural students throughout the country to advance their communities with invaluable skill sets and experiences.
Applications for the 2025 FRS Scholarship Program are due February 14, 2025.

Minnesota Residents: This year the Foundation will award six scholarships to high school seniors graduating in 2025. There are two types of scholarships this year:
One of five $2000 General Scholarships: To be eligible, applicants must be a high school senior with plans to attend post-secondary education at a university, college, or technical college, be a Minnesota resident, and the applicant’s family must subscribe to at least one service from an MTA member company, like Red River Communications. *Note: The Bud Morrow Scholarship will be awarded to the highest-scoring applicant in this category, who receive an additional $1,000.00.
One $3,000 Jon Tollefson Technology Scholarship: To be eligible, applicants must be a high school senior with plans to major in either Telecommunications or Information Technology (IT) at a university, college, or technical college and be a Minnesota resident.
Once completed, this application must be printed and submitted to your local telephone company manager by February 14, 2025.
