About Red River Communications
Red River Communications (Red River Rural Telephone Association) in Abercrombie, ND is a leading-edge communications cooperative offering internet, phone, digital tv, wireless internet, and cellular services.Cooperative Membership
As a cooperative, the aim of Red River is to provide dependable telephone service to all persons located in the service area at the lowest cost consistent with sound economy and good management. You become a full voting member of the Cooperative when you sign up for telephone service. The Bylaws explaining the rules and regulations of the Cooperative are printed in the back of your telephone directory. Cooperative members receive profit margins called capital credits based on telephone usage and other services during the year. Capital credits are paid upon the death of a member or when the Board of Directors deems the Cooperative financially able to retire capital credits from specific years.
Our Service Area
We serve exchanges in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Minnesota. Our service area includes most of Richland County in North Dakota, parts of Clay and Wilkin Counties in Minnesota and extreme northern Roberts County in South Dakota.
Our communities include Abercrombie, rural Barnesville, Barney, Colfax, Fairmount, Galchutt, Geneseo, Great Bend, Hankinson, Kent, Lidgerwood, Mantador, McLeod, Mooreton, Rollag, and Wyndmere.
Board of Directors
Nine elected directors make up the Board of Directors, each one representing the district where they live. The Board is responsible for the financial welfare of the Cooperative. It sets policies and employs a General Manager to operate the business and carry out policies set by the Board.
