Red River Communications is seeking a skilled Construction Leader to oversee the construction of critical infrastructure for our expanding telecommunications network. This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll lead a small team (2-3 people) to ensure the successful construction of fiber optic and telecommunications systems.

What You’ll Do:
  • Lead a team to construct and install fiber optics, cable systems, and other telecom infrastructure.
  • Manage day-to-day field operations, including project timelines, equipment use, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure quality control throughout construction, meeting industry standards and project specifications.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to ensure efficient execution.
  • Troubleshoot issues in the field and provide on-the-spot solutions.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards.
  • Train and mentor team members, ensuring best practices and high-performance outcomes

What You Bring:
  • Proven experience in construction leadership, preferably in telecommunications or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of outside plant construction.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project demands.
  • A commitment to maintaining project deadlines and delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments and operate construction equipment as needed.

We provide fiber-optic broadband, Wi-Fi, digital TV, landline phones, hosted business systems, security cameras, and cellular services in North Dakota and Minnesota. Established in 1951 and based in Abercrombie, ND, we recently expanded to include the communities of Breckenridge, Wahpeton, rural Wahpeton, Wilkin County and Clay County, Minnesota. Red River Communications is looking for a Right-of-Way Specialist to join our team. As a Right-of-Way Specialist, you’ll work as part of a team to drive our projects forward by securing easements, completing paperwork for permits, and meeting with city councils and commissioners to advocate for project approval. If you have experience in right-of-way acquisition and a passion for expanding broadband to rural communities, we’d love to hear from you!

What You’ll Do:
  • Secure easements from property owners, municipalities and government entities to use land for laying fiber optics, cables and other telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Negotiate terms with landowners or government bodies to reach agreements that comply with both legal requirements and project needs.
  • Prepare and submit permit applications to local, state and federal agencies for the approval of construction and infrastructure deployment.
  • Track and follow up on permits to ensure they are processed on time, coordinating closely with regulatory bodies and project managers.
  • Ensure right-of-way activities stay on track with project timelines and budgets.
  • Represent Red River Communications in meetings with city councils, county commissioners, planning commissions and public utility boards.
  • Address concerns from local authorities, residents and other stakeholders regarding the project’s impact on the community.
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Contribute to RRC’s ongoing success in other ways, which may include:
    • Utilizing GIS tools to manage project locations and right-of-way assets,
    • Site survey and staking for the installation of telecommunications infrastructure,
    • Maintaining outside plant records,
    • Managing data, or
    • Telecommunications sales
