Project Update: December 2022:
GRANT SUBMISSION – SUBMITTED:
Red River Communications has applied for grant funding to build a fiber-to-the-premises broadband project in rural parts of Wahpeton and Dwight, North Dakota.
- The proposed project would provide 324 locations with access to 2.5 Gbps symmetrical broadband and is built with the capability to offer future speeds up to 10 Gbps.
- Red River is requesting a 75 percent grant with a 25 percent match to supply high-quality, affordable fiber internet services to unserved and underserved locations in the proposed funded service area.
The American Rescue Plan Act of 2021, also called the COVID-19 Stimulus Package or American Rescue Plan is a US $1.9 trillion economic stimulus bill passed by the US Congress on March 11, 2021, to speed up the country’s recovery from the economic and health effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and the ongoing recession. Specifically, the Act allocated $10 billion for a Coronavirus Capital Projects Fund.
This project is supported by the North Dakota Broadband Program, awarded by the state of North Dakota, and administered by North Dakota Information Technology.
