To Red River Communications Customers:
The Federal Universal Service Charge (FUSC), an FCC-mandated surcharge, will increase from 28.9 to 32.6% effective Jan. 1, 2023. The new rate will reflect on your January bill
The new FUSC amount is calculated by multiplying the FCC’s universal service contribution factor times your interstate service charge and ARC (Access Recovery Charge). This amount will vary depending on the type of telecommunications service you have.
The FUSC is used to partially finance the Universal Service Fund. This fund is used to expand technology to schools, libraries, and rural health providers. Many of our local schools have benefited from this fund. It also helps rural telephone companies provide affordable telephone service to all customers, regardless of a sparse or widespread population.
