Abercrombie, ND – Finding a good book is about to get easier for some rural residents in Richland County. The city of Abercrombie is about to get its first Little Free Library giving people in the community easier access to reading material.
The Abercrombie Little Free Library’s grand opening is Thursday, August 27th at 3pm located at 510 Broadway in Abercrombie, North Dakota.
Red River Communications is the organizer and official steward of the library. RRC graciously donated a beautifully restored telephone booth to serve as the library structure while area residents donated books to stock the library. The LFL’s grand opening will coincide with Red River Communications’ Summer Celebration event; there will be free face painting, balloon animals, food and other family-friendly activities.
The Little Free Library is a community-based literacy movement with neighborhoods establishing free book exchanges. LFL’s mission is to “build a sense of community” and “promote literacy and love of reading” with the take a book, give a book program. There are multiple LFL’s in Fargo/Moorehead, Wyndmere and Hawley, MN. You can learn more about the Little Free Library at www.littlefreelibrary.org.
