Why do I need a telephone line to have your internet or TV service?

The short answer is high speed internet and digital TV service is exclusively available to members of our cooperative. Telephone service is the cost of becoming a cooperative member.

The long answer: We are a service provider operating in what is considered a high cost area. This means it costs us more to install and maintain services to a single customer in the rural community where the nearest neighbors could be miles apart compared to a lower cost metro area where there could be hundreds of customers within a single square block radius.

As a provider operating in a high cost area, we receive support funding to help offset the higher than normal costs to provide service to rural communities. The support funding we receive is based on the number of active telephone lines. We use this funding to help keep the cost of monthly service as low as possible for our customers so this is why we require telephone service to become a member of the cooperative.
